Vertical Specialties Inc. was retained to install two “Monopines” in the area of Gravenhurst, Ontario. A monopine is a simple twist on a the traditional monopole that assists in blending the tower in with the local environment. Despite the fact that the tower obviously can be spotted over the local terrain, locals seem to enjoy the unobtrusive structures.
Tower STacking
The structures were prepped and raised in multiple lifts due to the weight of the sections and equipment. Riggers bolt the flanged sections together in the air.
Monopine Accessories
As you can see above, the structure is designed to look as close to realistic as possible. Fake branches are installed on various mounting attachments at various points on the upper part of the structure to give the tower a “real tree” look.
RF Build
In this case, RF was all prepared on the ground in accordance with the specified azimuths and construction drawings. Jumpers are ran between all the equipment. The antennas and RRUs are then prepped and painted to blend in with the structure and the area.
Experience
Vertical Specialties Inc. personnel are no strangers to building structures. Despite this, stacking a “tree” is a new experience that we thoroughly enjoyed.
